SAVE Leafy Lytham’s Trees

Following the public outcry in September 2023 the councils plans to address Clifton Streets uneven pavement by felling and replacing the trees was postponed,
.
We understand that the councils are now progressing their work to develop tree and lighting proposals.
.
Lytham Voice believe that it is in the public interest to achieve a street scheme that ‘works for all’ and  look forward to the public being engaged in a constructive conversation on the options, including those which save as well as replace the mature trees.
.
FBC have confirmed that consultation will include the opportunity to be fully engaged in proposals drafted prior to any scheme being agreed.
.
Given this background and the importance of mature trees to “Leafy Lytham’s” street scene,  Lytham Voice has commissioned a report on the existing trees and pavement disruption. The reports author is an arboricultural specialist, with significant experience in the surveying and care of street trees for City and District councils.
.
To assist with the development of the councils proposals, and ahead of the public consultation on both the potential felling of any of Clifton Street trees, and any proposals for their replacement, Lytham Voice have provided the council and Lytham’s elected councillors  with the report for their review and consideration. We are sure they will agree the report is very helpful in identifying both the issues and recommendations including a potential cost effective solution.
.
FBC officers have looked at the information provided and have found it “very useful and complimentary to similar preliminary research that is being commissioned to ensure that every option is considered regarding the trees”.
.
Further investigatory or inspection work is required on the trees, which will be undertake  in due course by council appointed consultants.
.
