
Historic Day for Lytham Institute – Independent Trustees Appointed for First Time in 108 years
Given the formal recognition of Lytham Institute (the old library) as a Charity Fylde Council announced the recruitment of additional independent trustees.

Following completion of the application and interview process, Fylde Council Executive Committee approved the appointment of 6 additional trustees at their meeting on Monday 17 March 2025.

The new trustees have now been registered with the Charities Commission, details available here.

The inaugural meeting of the new Lytham Institute Board took place on Tuesday 29 April 2025.

The new Board were briefed on the recent history and material considerations and were given a tour of the building.

Additionally, the Board discussed the need for an ambitious vision and sustainable business plan to ensure our Institute can be restored to its original purpose – ‘dedicated to improving the quality of life for residents of Lytham and the surrounding areas’.
