Clifton Street Trees – March 2025 Update

Fylde Council confirm the work ‘exploring ways to enhance Clifton Street for residents, visitors and businesses whilst preserving its heritage charm  …. can now move forward.’  See their statement here
.
Lytham Voice are delighted to see progress and are encouraged by the latest update from  Fylde Council. As an integral part of this work, we strongly encourage consideration is given to protecting the rights of way across our pavements enjoyed residents and visitors for decades, and the negative impact on pavement safety, accessibility and enjoyment that the current excess of pavement ‘clutter’ is causing.
.
Fylde Council have announced that they commissioned an experienced arborist to report on the health and impact of the existing trees in the autumn of 2024 which has recommended ‘root pruning’ as an alternative to full tree replacement.
Assisted by Lancashire County Council, root pruning trials will be conducted by specialist contractors on 5 trees during March 2025. Lytham Voice’s appointed specialist arborist has been invited to witness the work; we  thank Fylde Council for this invitation..
Lytham Voice believe that it is in the public interest to achieve a street scheme that ‘works for all’
