Council Resolve to Create New Parish Councils for Lytham and Ansdell

Lytham Voice are delighted to confirm that at the Fylde Council meeting on Monday 15 July 2024, the full council unanimously resolved to accept the recommendations to establish new parish councils for Lytham and Ansdell.  As a result we understand the two new Parish Councils will come into existence on 1 April 2025, with elections to be held on 1st May 2025.

Subsequent elections would be held in May 2027 and then every fourth year.

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to sign our petition for a Lytham Town Council back in October/November 2023 which demonstrated strong support for a town council.

The petition was presented to a Fylde Council Working Group who subsequently commissioned a public consultation and recommended the formation of Parish Councils in both Lytham and Ansdell.

The Councils consultation received 1165 responses with over 200 people engaged at the 4 ‘in-person’ community events.  78% of survey respondents saying they would prefer some form of parish council in Lytham and Ansdell.

On 25 June 2024 the Councils Executive Committee reviewed the Working Group recommendations, resolving unanimously to establish new Parish Councils for both Lytham and Ansdell, a decision which was subsequently approved in full council on 15 July 2024.
